Holiday Soiree 2009 (40)
The Event : A chic holiday soiree.
The Venue : A private Baltimore home on Federal Hill Park.
The Inspiration : Can you design an entire party around a chandelier? After scouring Manhattan for weeks in search of a new light fixture for their dining room, Jennifer and Mark found the perfect crystal chandelier. It was late in the day at their final destination where they found "the one". All around them, the sales staff was beginning to take out the sparkling Christmas ornaments and setting up the festive holiday displays, changing the mood and making an absolutely magical transformation. Once back in Baltimore and patiently waiting for the chandelier to arrive, Jennifer began getting even more excited about the holiday season and decided to plan a small cocktail party. What could be better than an evening of good friends, good food and lots of champagne? She began revamping the interior setting to showcase the new crystal addition, including a color palette of icy whites and rich blacks, cool slate grays with a pop of teal. Additional winter inspiration sprang from a mix of both town and country: a love of the Manhattan skyline at night, the cool steel of the Chrysler building, the deep teal green ceiling at Grand Central Station coupled with the tranquility of cool gray skies, the first snowflakes of the season, and bare winter branches nestled in snowy banks.

The Invitation : Pink Dot Press brilliantly took all of these elements and designed a chic, sophisticated invite with a nod to the holiday season.
The Menu : Chef Beej Flamholz crafted a rich menu of deluxe passed hors d'oeuvres including foie gras, seared tuna and salmon tartare, to pair with the bubbles menu featuring champagne, cava, prosecco, sparkling reds and sparkling whites. Guests were treated to platters of truffles, palmiers, madeleines and macaroons to wrap up on a sweet note.
The Vibe : Jennifer enlisted NYC's DJ Peter Shalvoy to fashion the perfect playlist that would keep the atmosphere upbeat and lively. His special blend of remixed favorites were peppered with some nostalgic surprises thrown in for good measure.
The Setting : Sky Blue Events styled the room with luxe details, from the lustrous slate gray table linens to the diaphanous puffs of white, gray and teal tissue poms floating from the ceiling. The gorgeous new crystal chandelier captured and released light amidst the mercury glass, champagne glasses, mirrors and hurricanes. More sparkle came from the tiny crystals found throughout Design By Nature designer Robert Honaker's floral arrangements. His birch-wrapped exterior light, willow-wrapped lanterns and fluffy mounds of ruffled white carnations emerging from branches delivered both rustic, organic elements and subtle, luxurious touches.
The Style : Jennifer relied on Madeleine Holmes of LaPapillon Spa to create a sexy smoky eye and glossy lip combo as well as Emily of Studio 921 for perfectly polished fingers and toes. Jennifer's stunning amethyst and topaz necklace is from the Sumaris collection.
The Memories : The night's spirit and defining details were captured by the fabulous Kristen Nichols of Jubilee Photography. Many more of Kristen's party images are posted on the Sky Blue Events fan page on Facebook.
