Kind Finds : DIY Takes The Cake

The Inspiration :
The Michael Aram Jaipur cake stand with its black marble top that doubles as a serving tray or charger (top left).
The Kind Find :
Items you probably already have on hand which, with a little DIY thoughtfulness, can create lovely and unique dessert displays.
The Steps :
For my recent holiday soiree, I used four silver chargers and paired them with varying sizes of glass dessert bowls (5" high) and mercury glass candle holders (9" high). I flipped the base items upside down, applied three removable glue dots (from a scrapbooking kit) around the edges, centered the bases on the backside of the chargers, applied a little pressure, tested the stands for strength, et voila!
Using the mercury glass candle holders for two of the bases helped to coordinate an element with the other mercury glass pieces in the room decor. Deciding to use two different heights created a dynamic visual effect to better showcase delicious treats including champagne truffles, madeleines, macaroons and palmiers.
Elegant, effortless and easy to disassemble!
Not feeling so crafty? Here are the links to some of my other favorite cake stands pictured above (clockwise, from top left) and available in a variety of sizes, materials and price points.

Great idea! Looks beautiful...
So creative, such a good idea to repurpose what we have!
I use cake plates for everything! Think outside of the box- put your perfumes on them! At the spa we display our make-up on them, it makes them look like the treats they are.
