Inspiration : Lush Color For The Winter Solstice
Despite the recent snow storm and chilly temperatures, Manhattan was alive with lots of sparkle, holiday spirit and an abundance of lush color yesterday.
In town to visit sites for a client's upcoming trunk show as well as a special meeting with our publicist, I rushed from neighborhood to neighborhood dashing across slushy sidewalks and deftly side-stepping puddles.
I was on a major mission without a moment to spare in the itinerary if I was to enjoy the key last-minute holiday gift shopping points and dining spots squeezed into the work day schedule, including lunch at Gramercy Tavern and dinner at Blue Ribbon.
Along the way, I was able to capture a few scenes bursting with color, including some lovely flowers from the Union Square farmers' market and the festive, dynamic holiday windows at Bergdorf Goodman.
From the simple nature of the flowers to the extravagant nature of the fashion, both gave me
a reason to step back and take in the their exhilirating beauty on the first day of the winter solstice:
One of my favorite trip moments came upon seeing the holiday window featuring Isaac Mizrahi's designs at Bergdorf's (above). I had recently discovered that he was taking his signature style and introducing it to an exclusive collection of Junior's cheesecakes (left) for his new QVC venture.
From Mizrahi's rtw collections and now to desserts, it seems he's all about the tartan!
Picture a traditional holiday buffet with a line of delicious desserts and after-dinner goodies. Coming across this whimsical spin on a cheesecake would certainly make for a memorable meal, yes?

That plaid cheesecake is certainly festive.
I love that plaid cheese cake! We arrived home from a full day in the city about an hour ago. My dream of a perfect day was anything less... the camera battery died before we got to the tree... the older two were bickering... the crowds at TRU were insane (kids insisted we go there)... the older two were bickering... there was nary a cab to be caught... the older two were bickering... the light show at Saks was interrupted by the bickering... I FORGOT to see the windows at Saks! But Alexander ADORED Wintuk. He sat on my lap for two hours (because there was a very very tall lady in front of his seat!) completely riveted! And that made all the rest worth the while!
Your photos are spectacular and I am even angrier that my battery died.... stupid camera! LOL
I almost snapped up that cheesecake when I saw his QVC special- he does love his tartan. Those flower pictures are amazing! I just want to jump in & grab all of those bouquets!
