Event Update :: Bourbon & Bowties benefit for Shannon Dudley announced on CBS

When it comes to promoting and publicizing events, nothing brings a greater sense of reward than when we are able to contribute by bringing awareness to an important cause and bringing people together to raise funds for someone in the Baltimore community who is truly in need.

Shannon Dudley and his grandmother, Nelli, were interviewed on WJZ tv on Friday, May 14th by Baltimore CBS television station reporter Weijia Jiang at the Quinntessential Gentleman.

"Days away from finishing barber school at Avara's Academy of Hair Design, Dudley's plans were cut two years ago when a group of men robbed and stabbed him. He was waiting for the bus on the corner of Charles and Baltimore streets after a night of studying. Hours on the operating table led to severe brain damage."

After hearing the tragic news and learning more about Shannon's dream to become a barber, Craig Martin, proprietor of the QG, Baltimore's top barber shop, came up with the Bourbon & Bowties event to raise money to help make the Dudley family's house wheelchair accessible and to buy rehabilitation equipment. Martin made Dudley an honorary barber at the QG and presented him with merchandise from the upscale barber shop's retail boutique.

Sky Blue Events is proud to highlight this event and we hope you'll join us on May 21st at the Capital Grille for Bourbon & Bowties, a benefit for Shannon DudleyDetails & ticket info >

Meeting Shannon and seeing how the attack has left him wheelchair-bound and speechless made a significant impact on all of us. The brutal stabbing to his heart certainly didn't take away his ability to communicate however -- you can immediately sense his courage and warmth when locking eyes with Shannon.

Special thanks to Margaux at the DK Salon for her superior hair styling and Sumaris for the gorgeous necklace, both which helped keep me feeling polished, despite the fact that I was holding back tears during Shannon's interview. Hoping to see lots of Baltimore support for Shannon and his family on Friday at the Bourbon & Bowties event at the Capital Grille -- JG
