Poll :: Receiving Line :: Love It Or Leave It?

Do you, did you or will you plan on embracing the traditional receiving line? It's a time-honored tradition and a special way to welcome your guests directly following the ceremony.

Or, you could skip the potential 60 minutes it takes and head straight to cocktail hour with your guests, which bears the question:

Receiving line -- love it or leave it?

LEAVE IT. I'll see you all at the reception! Go start drinking.

Leave it. Awkward for everyone involved. Make a point to visit each and every guest during the reception - the non-forced moment will be so much more enjoyable.

LEAVE IT. Even my uber-traditional mother thinks they are terribly awkward!

Leave it- it's a pain for everyone including the bride & groom!

LEAVE IT!!!! We opted to greet our guests at their tables during dinner. Granted we had to hurry through dinner and it was exhausting it was much more pleasant for our guests, which I think it more important!

AN ABSOLUTE MUST, MUST, MUST!!! If Quinn things he/she is going to visit everyone during the reception, when is there time to eat?
If someone comes to a wedding which is HUGE expense for the bride's family, they can take a minute and say something nice. As for those doing the receiving, I would imagine they would want to meet those attending, I know I would. So I would say, practice some pleasantries and be gracious. It's only awkward, if you make it that way.

I think it is an easy and simple way for everyone to meet each other. Why add the stress to the bride and groom to have to spend the evening going from table to table to table to table. . . . . you get the picture! I would think they would want to sit down and eat that expensive dinner! It really makes it easier for the guests, too. Because most people would not want to go up to the actual hosts (the bride's parents) and say thank you, we've had a lovely time. When you go thru the line, it's so easy to say how beautiful everything is and thank you for inviting me. I am all for it.

Love it. Only because then you know you really did see everyone and thank them for coming.
