{Event News} Oxfords & Oysters updates

If you received a VIP gift bag at this year's Oxfords & Oysters event and haven't used your Elizabeth McKay $50 gift certificate yet, now is the time! The company is having their first sale of the season - 25% off - and you've been invited to use your gift certificates during the sale this weekend. We're slightly obsessed with the Bassett coat's details: printed silk linings, tortoise shell toggles, large gold grommets and the elephants incorporated into the stitching.

The Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP) will reveal Chesapeake Bay oyster restoration results for 2010, including final shell recycling collection numbers from the region’s first Oyster Shell Recycling Alliance, this Saturday inside the Old Ebbitt Grill -- an award-winning member of this influential group.

The Alliance, launched by ORP earlier this year, is made up of dozens of restaurants, caterers and seafood wholesalers from the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region, as well as citizen volunteers who donate and/or collect their used oyster shells to aid in restoring the Chesapeake Bay. Party guests put this concept into action during this year's Oxfords & Oysters event at Little Havana >

Oyster shell is a limited natural resource and oyster reefs are among the most endangered habitats in the world. Reused oyster shell provides crucial natural habitat for new oysters in the Chesapeake Bay.

Get Involved! To make a contribution to the ORP or to learn about volunteer opportunities, you can learn more here >
