Dish :: Chef Flamholz + Truck Patch Farms Pair For A Win At The Farmer & The Chef Event

Congratulations to Chef Beej Flamholz and his team for a delicious victory in The Farmer And The Chef culinary competition on September 26 at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore. From under the Science Center’s dramatic windows, the event brought together over 250 guests to enjoy the creative recipes resulting from the pairing of 20 of Baltimore’s most talented chefs with local farmers’ produce. The competition was sponsored by The American Institute of Wine & Food and served as a fundraiser for Days of Taste, a program that brings together farmers and community volunteers to introduce elementary school children to the basic elements of taste and how food travels from farm to table.

Using ingredients from Truck Patch Farm, Chef Flamholz created a Korean barbecue braised short rib with kimchi slaw, pickled cucumbers, crispy carmelized shallot rice, crispy pork cracklin and micro asian greens. Chef Flamholz won the Judges’ awards for Best Tasting Recipe, Best Plate Presentation, and Best Farmer and Chef Pair as well as the Best Table Presentation which was designed by Sky Blue Events. The farm-inspired table elements created a rustic chic setting to showcase the Chef’s flavorful pairing.

Congrats to all of the Chefs and Farms for a very successful and creative culinary evening!
